Wooster Bulls rally off early goal, wallop Forge in dominant 10-7 victory on the road

The Wooster Bulls weren't going to make it easy on themselves.

But when all was said and done, they came out on top to find a second consecutive win, the first time such a feat has occurred in team history.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Bulls played host to the Iron City Forge from Frozen Pond Arena in Valencia, Pa., coming out on top, 10-7. The Bulls were led by an outstanding performance from forward Remington Reynolds, who netted three goals and controlled the offense in the win.

However, it wasn't all easy skating.

Iron City Forge struck immediately in the opening frame, scoring just 20 seconds into the game when Jacob Sakulsky finished a setup from Michael Keller and Ben Cunningham. The rest of the period was marked by penalties on both sides, but neither team was able to convert on the power play. Iron City carried its one-goal advantage into the first intermission.

Heading into the second, Wooster seized control quickly. Michael Moreira tied the game at 16:53, and Remington Reynolds followed less than two minutes later to give the Bulls their first lead, his first goal of the night. Will Holden then went on to score twice in the frame, with his second goal at 8:48 pushing Wooster ahead 4–2.

With one more period to go, the Bulls needed to keep the game in hand and hope to secure win No. 4 on the season.

Well, with a bend-don't-break defense and an offense that was lights out, they'd do just that. Iron City opened the final period of action with rallied goals from Jake Ochwat and Ben Cunningham to tie the game at 4–4, only for Matt Omiecinski to regain Wooster’s lead.

The Forge answered again, eventually taking a 6–5 advantage on goals by Ryan Dickson and Marky Aponte. Wooster responded with four goals in the final four minutes, including a power-play tally by Anthony Caserta, the go-ahead goal by Reynolds with 2:22 remaining, and two late insurance markers to seal the 10–7 Bulls victory.

It was a game the Bulls needed, especially at this point in the season.

The game's first star was given to Holden, who finished the night with two goals and two assists, with the second star going to a member of the Forge and the third going to Reynolds. Saturday night marked Reynolds' best performance this season with the Bulls.

Just last weekend, Wooster was able to upset the West Michigan Sentinels, 7-6, at home, securing momentum into this two-game road spell against the Forge.

They'll rematch the Forge from the Frozen Pond Arena later today, on Sunday, Jan. 11, with puck drop slated for 12:15 p.m. EST.
