Bulls snap losing skid with dominant win over Thousand Island Raiders, 8-1

It was pure domination from start to finish Sunday afternoon.

The Wooster Bulls played host to the Thousand Island Raiders from the Alice Noble Ice Arena in Wooster, Ohio, on Sunday, Dec. 14. The two sides battled for 60 minutes of action, with the Bulls coming out on top in convincing fashion, 8-1.

The team was led by star forward Zak Bell, who got the offensive production rolling early, finishing the game with a team-high four goals and one assist. Bell is now up to a season mark of six goals and four assists.

In the opening period of action, Bell sliced his way to the net to bury his first of four with 11:02 on the clock. He was assisted on the play by forward Remington Reynolds and defenseman Anthony Caserta.

On the Bulls' first power play, just less than four minutes later, Bell netted his second. He was assisted by Caserta again and forward Nick Ciura.

To cap off the first period, Bell dashed into the attacking zone before being hit high, dumping the puck off to Ciura in the process, who scored the Bulls' third goal.

Heading into the second frame, tensions rose as the Bulls found two more goals and allowed just one, marching to a 5-1 lead.

Both goals for the Bulls came from Bell on two different power plays.

In the third, the home team was able to seal the game with three more goals tacked on. The first came from the stick of forward Michael Moreira, who was assisted by forwards Ethan Critzer and Will Holden with 10:41 on the clock. The next two came in the dying embers of the game at the 5:21 mark and with 34 seconds remaining.

Critzer and Holden scored the final two goals, respectively.

Throughout the entire game, the offense was incredibly efficient, but so was the backline. Goaltender Rob Holden made 39 saves on 40 shots faced. Due to his efforts, he was given the game's second star.

The first star went to Bell, and the third went to the other Holden brother.

Coming into Sunday's matchup, the Bulls sported a measly 7% conversion rate in the power play, but after the dominant win, that mark shot up to 16%.

The win pushes the Bulls' record up to 2-5 on the season and drops the Raiders to 4-5.

Up next, the Bulls will prepare to take on the Toledo Mobsters on Saturday, Dec. 20, with puck drop set for 7:30 P.M. EST from the Team Toledo Ice House.
